  • ISFA and Russia Franchise Federation Forge Strategic Partnership to Foster Global Franchising Cooperation

Moscow, Russia | 30th May 2025 — In a significant move to strengthen international cooperation in the franchising sector, the Indian Small Business & Franchise Association (ISFA) and the Russia Franchise Federation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on May 28, 2025, in Moscow, Russia. This landmark agreement marks the beginning of a long-term strategic partnership aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and fostering the growth of franchising across both nations.

The MoU establishes a framework for comprehensive interaction and collaboration between the two organizations with a shared objective: to support and scale up small and medium enterprises (SMEs) through the robust vehicle of franchising.

Key Objectives of the Partnership:

To facilitate information exchange and foster regular dialogue through meetings, communications, and joint initiatives.

To support existing and aspiring entrepreneurs in both countries.

To co-develop programs and policies that promote franchise development and entrepreneurial activity

To enable an environment conducive to the global expansion of Indian and Russian franchise brands.

Speaking on the occasion, Gaurav Marya, Chairman of ISFA and a leading voice in global franchising, remarked:“Franchising is no longer just a business model—it’s a global language of entrepreneurship. Coordinated development and promotion of joint training programs, seminars, exhibitions, and business forums.

Cross-posting and dissemination of franchising-related content on each other’s platforms;

Identifying and connecting with new business and government partners across India, Russia, and globally;

Facilitating participation in third-party entrepreneurial events, to promote cross-border franchise investments;

Supporting Moscow-based businesses in exploring global markets and vice versa, with a strong emphasis on India-Russia collaboration.

Duration & Implementation

Both parties have committed to implementing this partnership through structured plans, regular communication, and a shared vision to uplift franchising ecosystems in their respective countries.

This collaboration is expected to pave the way for stronger bilateral trade ties, knowledge exchange, and the global expansion of franchise networks—with India and Russia emerging as key strategic partners in the evolving landscape of international franchising.
